It's been awhile, but yes, I am still alive!

I know it has been awhile since I have updated this site, but tonight I've finally been able to connect to the Internet at home, so I should be much better at keeping you all posted.
I've officially been in school for two weeks and so far, so good. For the most part, I think I have adjusted to life here, although sometimes I do get pangs of homesickness. Like on Thursday, when all us foreigners gathered in the International Lounge, while one guy played the guiter and more or less everyone sang. It reminded me of times in LA, when we would go to the beach and JV or John Wade would have their guitars and we would play and sing. Who knew that the song Country Roads was so popular in Austria and the Netherlands, because they all seemed to know it.

Last weekend we went to a place called Big Pit. It's and old mine that we were actually able to go down into. Learning the history behind it and the life the miners lived was very interesting. I couldn't bring my camera in, for the reason of a potential fire, but I was able to talk the old miner into taking a picture of me and then he wanted to be in it too. Now the equipment they made me wear, wasn't the most flattering, but I guess safety first. I also realized why the seven dwarfs were miners, you have to be pretty small to walk around comfortably inside those mines! I felt the worst for Tyler, who's in my writing program, he's 6'5", so he had far to duck down.

I've only had three classes so far and I've received an assignment each time, but fortunately, these assignments aren't due until January. And I don't even have to do all of them, but of course I will, because I'm paying good money for this program. This all means that this program requires a lot of self-motivation and self-discipline.

I've been wanting to show you what the Welsh language looks like, so see if you can make sense of this picture, besides the fact it's also written in English. Everything in this country is Welsh first, English second. I'm starting to understand the loud speaker at the train station, but I don't think I could ever repeat what I hear.

What's funny is that I'm learning more German than Welsh. I've befriended a group of Austrians and a German and they have been teaching me the language. I can only say a few things and need a few hints when trying to repeat it, but I'm catching on quickly if I do say so myself.

Well, it's getting late, and homework is waiting. I never thought I'd say that again! I love you and miss you all so much! Ta! (That's Welsh for bye!)

Yay!!! I was so happy to go to your blog page and actually see a new one. :) Sounds like you are having some great experiences over there. By the way, I am shocked that you were asked about Mark Twain, that's really funny. I told my mom that it must be a sign that this is what you are supposed to be doing. :)
